  • Johnson Hits Damon During BP

It seems like it was meant to be a joke, but Johnson threw inside at Damon during BP yesterday and actually grazed him. Here's a link.

Sounds like a reverse of one of the prior Yankee jokes to the new guy.

When Clemens joined in 1999, after having declined a trade to the Yanks a season earlier, because of so many hit batters, Jeter and Knobby borrowed Posada's pads and stuff, and during spring training during inter-team matches, stepped up to the plate. Roger was on the mound, then looked like "Say what?" types of things. He had to laugh.

That was their introduction of Roger to the team with a reminder that this is what he's done to the Yanks in the past.

No need for the cloak of invisibility, Mattingly. Damon's allllllll yours now.

Doggonit, just when I thought that I had that coding set up properly.

Now how do I keep these Beantowners out of our threads about Damon.

I remember last year the first game Johnson pitched at Fenway he K'd Damon looking to start the bottom of the first, stared him down and yelled something at him. The look on Damon's face was priceless.

Damon should have charged the mound.

That would have changed Unit's expression!

Schilling did something like that last year without warning Varitek first. Now, who did he do it to? Baseball can always use a good fight. Howe vs anyone at the Garden, YEAH!

Yeah he probably would have been more pissed off before he laid Damon out like Damon was Robin Ventura coming at Nolan Ryan. Johnson is 6'10 with a devastating fastball, there are not many people he's going to fear charging the mound.
