Mattingly's Wife Jailed

The NY Daily News is reporting today that Kim Mattingly, Don's estranged wife, was arrested and jailed for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. His marital problems caused him to walk away from a full time hitting coach job in LA.

Does anybody think the Yankees knew a little bit about Mattingly's marital problems, and that also went into the decision? Because I can tell you I'm glad the Yankees picked Girardi, and this only cements my liking towards the decision. If Mattingly was chosen, he would have stepped down and by that time the only available candidate would have been Tony Pena.
