They say Ian Kennedy is an injury risk, I'm not so sure I buy this. In 2006 he pitched 100 innings in college and last year he pitched a total of 194.5 innings including his time in HWB. That was too much, I agree, however I see no reason that he shouldn't be able to throw 200 this year. He forgets that Ian had college expierence, and he doesn't throw as hard as the other pitchers on the list which creates less stress on his arm. Either way, I hope were careful with him.

I think Verducci makes some sense with the theory in general, but it's far from a science. The big picture point is that pitchers are extremely coddled nowadays and that when you have a young pitcher that has a substantial increase in innings from one year to the next, rather than incremental, that pitcher might be more of an injury risk in the following season. There's a lot more to it than that, but it's just one thing to consider.
Also, I think Verducci did consider Kennedy's college experience when considering how many more innings Kennedy pitched last year versus the prior year, which was almost entirely college.
Also, I think last year Verducci mentioned Wang in his year-after piece. Doesn't look like he was right on that one.

I forgot that Winter Ball innings should be counted as 2006. So he pitched closer to 130-140 innings, and then pitched 160, which is a normal increase."he probably used some performance enhancing drugs so he could do a better job on his report...i hear they make you gain weight" - Dr. Zizmor

As for IPK, I don't see him getting anymore work than last season.
Matter fact, I honestly believe he's not going to start the season with the team unless there is an injury prior."After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

Wang
Pettitte
Kennedy (because he can pitch the most innings of the next three (four if you count Joba) starters)
Hughes
