I don't see what is the big deal. Some of you disagree with this.

If he is on the 40 man roster, it doesn't mean that he will be called up sooner or later.

It is a big deal because I do not belive that he deserves to be on that roster. The Yanks could have got in a better Infielder than Ensberg

I think I read someplace that the Yankees had to make that move by a certain date or he could opt out and become a free agent. So on one hand, this could just meant that team wants to buy more time for Ensberg. On the other hand, this could be a formality on the way to having him on the team. The fact that he's now on the roster likely does give him an inside track towards a roster spot, but I don't see what he's done this spring to particularly earn a spot. So perhaps this is just the team buying more time before having to make a final decision.
