  • Washington Times names New York Yankees "Noble of the Week"

Just thought that those of you who frequent this forum might be interested in what the Washington Times is saying about the Yankees trip to Virginia Tech this past week.

The Washington Times publishes a short column every Saturday titled "Nobles and Knaves" highlighting a newsworthy person or group from the past week, naming one a "Noble" for a positive event, a "Knave" for something seen in a negative light.

    Here's the article:

New York Yankees-Noble of the Week

As one who grew up seeing my beloved Washington Senators falling to the Bronx Bombers on a regular basis I really don't have a lot of fond memories of the Yankees, however the trip to Virginia Tech, the time spent at the college and the donation to the school is a very classy act. My hat is off to the entire Yankees organization.

"For the Washington Senators, the worst time of the year is the baseball season." Roger Kahn

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." Rogers Hornsby.

I agree. You cannot fault the Yanks for this. I'm surprised no BoSox fans have accused the Yanks of wrong doing on this thread yet.

Haha, they have in other threads...

It was just a great thing to do and fun to watch. It meant a lot to them and was my proudest day as a fan of the team since 2003.
