You know..sometimes Alex, it's best to remain quiet.
You don't always have to speak.
Let it go...you came back...you looked good to fans. Some believe that you saw the light...let them believe that. Don't give them fodder for Talk Radio.
Let sleeping dogs lie."After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

A-Rod never became a NY Met because then GM Steve Phillips (very likely at the urging of Mets owner Fred Wilpon) let the media know of A-Rod's supposed excessive perks, such as use of a jet plane, his own office in the clubhouse, etc. I've never seen how the top-tiered players' contracts are structured, so I can't say whether or not certain perks above the salary would normally be included.
He refused Seattle's offer of $21m/yr for about 7 years, then somehow got Texas to add exactly 20% to this deal, and for an extra 7 years. I have no idea why an "opt-out" clause was allowed for such a mammoth deal.
He feels guilty for signing the most lucrative sports contract in team history, he feels guilty for opting out. Can he just play the game and stop feeling so guilty? All this melodrama needs to be reserved for the daytime soaps.
