  • YESterdays - Joba Chamberlain?

Did anyone see this on YES? They "surprised" Joba by bringing out his high school teachers, coaches, prom date, and neighbors to tell "funny" stories about Joba. Stories from the good old days.........er, 2003. The guy is only *22* years-old. Very strange. It's about the equivalent of the Academy Awards giving a lifetime achievement award to Macaulay Culkin.

Although I enjoyed watching it, I totally agree with you.

I thought it might be interesting but I was disappointed. Having Michael Kay host was a bad idea, although a better idea than having John Sterling host. They should have spent more time with the guests and had a smaller number of them. They had a new person come on every 30 seconds. What was the point of bringing on his neighbor? I would have liked to see more baseball stuff like the scout that signed him, who his favorite players were when he was growing up. I'll give it a C.

I agree, Michael Kay is surpassed in intelligence and thoughtful analysis only by true geniuses like Joe Morgan and Tim McCarver.

I can take Morgan, but McCarver is an imbecile, at best.

I've seen Arod featured in some promos so I bet he's next. That's one I'm very interested in. Of couse YES will probably ruin it. And Michael Kay will be an ass and the sun will rise tomorrow.

I think Arod is a lot more complicated than people realize. I remember seeing something somewhere about Leigh Montville (Ted Williams: American Hero and Big Bam about Babe Ruth which were both excellent books) was going to be doing a book about Arod. I'm positive I read it somewhere but I couldn't find anything more about it. I've looked on the publishers website and couldn't finad anything there. I remember reading that Arod had heard Montville was planning on doing the book and was very willing to cooperate with him. If anyone knows something please post it up.

No matter who YES and Michael Kay do next, it will be more than likely another great broadcast piece.

They are seriosly ruining Joba with all this attention.

And the reason I watch Yankee/boston games on YES, is the caliber, the diversity, and the knowledge of the Yankee broadcast team.
