  • I never really heard of this

I never remember losing a key player for a week because of illness in the family
I really feel for Joba but if his pop is ill all season will this hurt the Yanks chances for a pennant
The Yanks could of blown a few games this week because of Joba not being there
This same thing could happen in October
Will he go running home everytime his pop is ill or what?
I only remember players leaving the team due to death
Will the Yanks win or lose the pennant based on how Harlen feels?
I feel for Joba's pop but I'm concerned about the postion of the Yanks due to this

Not to be morbid or whatever but I really think he went there because he wasn't doing good at all, perhaps a step away from passing, so I think Joba did the right thing. I think a lot of people would leave work to be with their father/mother/guardian in this situation. I know I would.

You really think Joba would miss a week in October because his father was ill? Unless he was on his death bed and could pass any minute, that just wouldn't happen. Joba wants to play. But it's April and his father is very ill- priorities.

Playing a baseball game isn't on the same plane with loosing your dad.

The kid should take whatever time he feels is nessasary. I really feel for him.

If this would mean that he will be out for the season, so be it. IMO family matters are more important than work/sport.

I'm not complaining about Joba going to see his dad
I'm just saying these illneses could really linger and my question is could this illness hurt the Yanks chances of winning it
I knew people that were on and off their death bed for months
I never remember feeling that a pop or mom could affect a major league team before but in this case it can without question
This is a multi million dollar team and one pop could ruin the whole deal
I have a feeling Joba could wind up running back and forth to his ill pop right through the playoffs
I'm not complaining about that but again I'll say I never remember thinking a players pop could mean the pennent

It could definitely cost the Yankees a pennant. We are depending on him

Regarding the highlighted portion; that's a bit cold & cavalier isn't it ?

The Yankee team well always be there, someones father may not. The Yankees are doing the right thing by letting Joba take WHATEVER time is needed away from the team.

I feel for Joba but I also feel for Yankee fans seeing a possible pennant go down the tubes if this thing lingers
I feel if Joba's pop's illness lingers we won't have the same Joba
It sounds cold but I'm talking facts
The Yanks were lucky the 8th inning was OK against the Bosox last night but what about the 8th inning tonight and other 8th innings Joba could save but not there
The Yanks could lose to the Bosox by one game this year
Blown 8th innings could be costly (no Joba in the flesh or mentally)
Anyone would not be up to par with a very ill parent but I'm saying one ill man could ruin a season for millions of Yankee fans
Again I'm not complaining but I'm also speaking hard very cold facts
                    Shame on me????????????

Yes, shame on you. Joba's father dying could cost the season for millions of Yankees fans? It's a GAME when it comes down to it, Joba's dad's illness is a real life scenario, and he should spend all the time with him that he can. Do you have any family? Im in shock at how much it's taking you to realize how wrong you are here lol

The mere asking says the reply would fall on deaf ears.

I very much sympathize with Chamberlin and his family. I do wonder, though, how long Joba can keep up this sort of vigil, especially if his father keeps hanging on. It is a very helpless feeling to sit and watch and hope and pray and not be able to do a thing but sit and watch and hope and pray. It's why people come back to work earlier than one would expect from these sort of things, what else is there for them to do but try not to focus on what they can't control at all?

No the Yankees were not lucky the 8th inning was OK against the bosox. A reliever stepped up and did his job.
The ill man talked about is not Jobas father.

                              Please guys
I'm not a cold hearted Monster
I'm just saying there's a chance the Yankees could lose the pennant because of this illness
I never said Joba shouldn't go see him
I never remembered a team maybe losing a championship because of a parent's illness
Joba is the key to a possible pennant
The Yankees will have trouble with the Bosox with Joba at full strength never mind this illness causing him to leave the team for a week and maybe again when he's needed most
Like I said this thing could linger for a long time
                              It's to bad
                              What could I say
I know this is just a game but it's still very important to millions of Yankee fans who want to see a championship
I know this man's health is much more important than a game but people invest a lot of time and money wanting this team to win and all I said it's ashame this is happening
Shame on me for talking facts
