  • When does BP start for a 1:05 game?

I'm coming to your lovely city in July and am fortunate enough to get tickets to take the family. My son's cousin is a former player so he's pumped up. He's been a fan ever since his (son's cousin) playing days.

The game starts at 1:05 and I am considering getting there in time to watch batting practice for both teams. Does anybody know what time all that starts and the general "flow" to the end of it and the start of the game? Meaning is there an hour after BP ends and the game starts, etc?

I did a search here and didn't see the question already.

Found it! I got to thinking that this information should be part of the stadium information off the Yankees site, and it was.

    BATTING PRACTICE
Guests are welcome to watch batting practice. Gates open two hours prior to each game.

    BATTING PRACTICE TIMES *
    1:05 p.m. Game Time 4:05 p.m. Game Time

    7:05 p.m. Game Time 8:00 p.m. Game Time
4:40 p.m. Yankees Batting Practice 5:40 p.m. Yankees Batting Practice

    * Please note batting practice times are subject to change without notice.

They usually don't open the gates until 1 hour before game time. And it's now impossible to get anywhere near the players as they come in. Usually you can get in for most of the visiting teams BP.

My wife and I are visiting the stadium for our first time at the end of May. While at home, Do some Yankees sign autographs like they do on the road during BP?

Not really at all. When I was a kid you could get them to sign when they were coming or going from the stadium. But now there's a 100 foot barrier between the players entrance and the fans. They used the 9/11 security excuse for that one. Yankees batting practice is over by the time they let most of the fans in. Some people do get in early but I don't know anyone that can get me those privileges. And make sure you get to monument park WELL BEFORE the game starts. They close it during the game. Have fun.

I noticed the difference between when they say they let you in and the start of BP. It's odd they don't let you in for the whole thing. I wonder what the downside is aside from the burden of extra employees that have to be on staff?
