  • Girardi Does Not Know How to Manage

After watching the game Saturday and all the other games Girardi is NOT a manager. Why was Matsui-Posada-Cano-Abreu benched yesterday? Ya, there struggling [Cano] but the only way to get them out is to get them some at bats. Why was Hawkins/Ohlendorf called on yesterday? Why not Joba/Mo?!
There had to of been a better manager choice.

Since you weren't aware of the fact, you heard what happen to Posada today, no? Be a good reason why he was bench yesterday, if his shoulder was bothering him.

Abreu played every single game this season, he needed a rest. He would have been bench for one game to rest.

You're bothering the slumping Cano was benched? So, by your logic, keep throwing Cano out there until he figures out? Isn't that just giving a opposing team a out since Cano been slumping that badly. Slumping players being bench has been a practice used by every single manager. Not sure why it's a big deal.

Why not Chamberlain and Rivera? Tied game in April? If they start using Chamberlain and Rivera in these situations often, they'll burn them out and when it's time to close the door on a game, you'll find out they're either suffering from tired arm or they're not there, rather riding the DL. That's how these pitchers are use to pitching. Chamberlain and Rivera won't be seen in tied games too often, unless they need work, or it's a important game.

Not to difficult to second guess decisions after the fact. Girardi's decision didn't go well and he's not a manager? If that's the case, no managers exist in Major League baseball.

I'm a Rays fan, not a Yankee fan, but geez, give Girardi a break. He hasn't
gone from being a genius 2 years ago to being an idiot now. Lets face it,
not a manager in the world could win with the starting rotation he is
          saddled with.

If anything you should be referencing not intentionally walking Manny a while back. Posada's hurt, the other guys needed rest. It's April, Joba pitched like 4 innings in 3 days before that game, you trying to burn him out? You bring in Mo in a tie game- in April?!!!!!! As far as the pitching move nothing else can really be done in that situation. Maybe Matsui should've been in but not Posada (hurt AND it was a day game after a night game he caught) or Cano or Abreu (hadn't missed a game yet)

This is Girardi's 2nd year managing. It's not like he has years and years of experience being a manager. Give him a break.

If threads like this are going to appear after two dozen games, let's just do a search and replace of all the previous Torre threads, insert Gerardi's name, re-post them and just get on with the season. A manager who benches a struggling player hitting .180 as plays a guy who's hustling and hitting .300 is unqualified? Sorry, that's just dumb. All the other reasons mentioned about the players who were benched for the game were spot on. The only thread that's as ridiculous as this is the one about whether Wang is an ace. That just defies belief.

I`m happy with how he`s done actually. Much more so than I was with Torre.

My only two problems were not walking Manny earlier in the year (a questionable decision anyway) and not pitching Rivera in the tied 9th a few days ago

                      Every manager makes questionable moves.

Remember how Boston fans scorched Francona? Now, after two WS titles, he is the best (suddenly).

At least Girardi showed that he can adapt to a game's situation. Last night for example. He did not wait for the big inning and the long ball, like Torre would do, but he turned to small ball and won the game. Maybe, some hits were a bit lucky; but who cares?

I'm curious, do you wish to offer yourself as being the next Yankee manager?

Jeremy Sowers is a southpaw. Several of our lefty hitters can hit LHPs, but I figured that this was a good time to give some of our bats a rest. Everyone needs one of those in order to remain solid.

Also, Cano hasn't been hitting the covers off the ball lately.

Ian Kennedy went 5 innings on Saturday. Would you really ask Joba and Mo to do 2 innings apiece? I don't know why hawkins was used, but with Ohlendorf struggling, that may not be such a bad thing.

I'm curious, who is the better managerial choice that you'd have decided upon?
