  • How will Darrell Rasner do?

Rasner has clearly earned this spot postinga 4-0 record at Scranton with an ERA under 1.00. How will he do against the Mariners tomorrow and can the Yankees take the brooms out> ? Wat do u guys think?:cap:

You have my HOF vote and good luck in the future now that you have retired. Thanks for the wins you gave the Yanks from 2001-2008. Have an enjoyable retirement.

I hope so. If they keep hitting like they have in the past 2 games then there's no problems. I think Rasner will fair well tomorrow, but I'm an optimist when it comes to some things like this.

6 innings of dominant ball by Rasner. I'm happy the way he pitched today

I won't call it dominant, but I would call it a quality start, which you haven't been getting from Kennedy and Hughes. Good start by Rasner. It's surprising what he can do when given a chance, a chance he didn't get often while Torre managed the team.

DX and I have continued to beat on the D.Rasner drum.

Before his injury last year, he was the best or one of the best Starters early on.
Every time he was called on, or pretty much every time, he gave the Yankees a chance to win.

Yet for some unknown reason, Torre and the Yankees just refused to take the guy seriously.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

I wonder if there's something to our bandwagoning? It's only one start, but Rasner is looking promising, and who can forget that we were driving the Scott Proctor bandwagon long before he emerged as a viable bullpen option. Who should we target next?

I was at the game (great game to be at). Rasner looked great from what I could see, although it's always easier to tell on television than in person. But after the 1st inning, he seemed to be in pretty much complete command, especially not walking anyone.

To me, that's the key - the walks. If he can throw strikes, I see no reason why he can't keep the team in the game every time he goes out there. He may not have the best stuff on earth, but if he can give you 6 innings and about 3 runs, I'll take it every time! :cap:

. . .I'm still partial to Edwar Ramirez.

He's looked good ...with the exception of that ONE game where he walked 2 in an inning and kinda struggled. Although he did manage to work out of the jam.

Mind you...had it been Joe Torre he would have pulled Edwar after the 2nd walk. Giradi let him stay and he K'd the next guy and got the next batter to ground out.

Well Rasner looked real good today. You gotta give him credit now, two nice performances against good teams in a row, today on national tv. This is what we need if we have a chance this year.. guys like Rasner to fill the gaps until Hughes and Kennedy can get their act together. Altho with Rasner I think he has more of a future than filling the gaps this year.

At the moment, you should pencil in Rasner being the number 4 starter of this rotation behind Wang, Pettitte and Mussina. If a collapse from Pettitte, Mussina or Rasner doesn't happen, it will be Hughes and Kennedy battling to make it back on ML team this year for the final spot. Kennedy having the upper hand not being injured and should get another crack at ML level this season. I believe you're seeing the best of Rasner. He's not going to strike people out or go too deep into games, but he'll keep you in the game and that's all a pitcher needs to do with the Yankees and their offense.

I'm glad things are working out for Rasner and he is making the most of this opportunity.
