My favorite Yankee is Charlie Keller...a top notch ballplayer who had a short career due to serious back problems and was totally overshadowed by Clipper. He was no DiMaggio, but was a fine, efficient player who kept to himself and longed to get back to his farm after each season was over. I was surprised that such a good ballplayer would get so little notice, and I tend to like the guys that require a little digging to learn about
I also liked Bernie Williams very much. Underrated ballplayer and an intelligent, interesting person.

        Right now::

Mussina keeps busting his ass fighting to get the job done. Lets face it- it's his last year of baseball. He could easily just give up, but he won't say die. Everything he has goes into every pitch and every play.
The guy legitimately does not have what it takes, physically, to get the job done. Yet, he keeps finding ways to do the job. Guy is busting his rear to find a way to get it done. He just gets rocked, goes out, makes adjustments, tries something new and gets defeated again. Gotta give him credit; it's tough to keep bouncing back like that- nevertheless successfully. He just keeps digging for more. He's a warrior. The same reason is why Andy is my #2 Yankee

Overall and all time?: I can't even begin to make that call. Mattingly, O'neil, Bernie, Andy, Roger, Jeter, Mariano all come to mind. Mariano's contract thing this year kinda made me a bit.. ehh. I love Jeter's "teflon" and class act + clutch abilities. Everyone loves Jeter so I makes me hesitant to call him a favorite (bad reason, I know). Andy, see above w/ Mussina. PED thing turned me off. Same thing with Roger. On on hand, I loved Roger's give it your all, don't take **** from anyone attitude. On the other hand, it's not nearly as admirable if it's steroid induced.

All time fav Mickey Mantle. Could do everything and when you was a kid growing up his name to me was really catchy.

Griag Nettles, guy was great with the glove.

I started following baseball in 1982 and George Brett is my favorite player ever by far. Back then I also liked Mike Schmidt a lot too and Dave Winfield was my favorite Yankee. After he left my favorite guy was Randy Velarde. I remember after the 1995 season he offered to take a huge pay cut to stay with the Yankees and I've liked him even more since.

I didn't have a true favorite Yankee player until Mariano became a demigod. My other favorite player is Arod, who I like equally with Mariano. I always liked and admired him but I didn't love Arod until 2006 when everyone started booing him. I started getting into arguments with other fans in the bleachers about how good of a player he was and I started rooting for him to do better. I also like Phil Hughes and Mike Mussina a lot too.

Non Yankees I love to watch: Pat Neshek, Vladimir Guerrero, Ichiro, David Wright, and BJ & Justin Upton.

                :d

Actual: Bob Abreu because he's Venezuelan and i'm proud.. there's other venezuelans but Bobby is the best of them.. even if i hate his venezuelan team (Leones del Caracas)

History: Reggie Jackson... he is just a legend in baseball.

P.D.: I'm a Red Sox fan.. but i can still say that you got good players haha

I'm 18 years old so I've obviously never had the priviledge to watch Mickey Mantle play, but all-time he's my favorite player. I guess if someone asked me to pick one person I'd say Jorge Posada but really as of right now I don't have a definitive favorite player, my favorite player changes with the year. In '06 it was Damon cause that year he had a good way of sparking the offense and I liked what he brought to the team, and I always really liked him even when he was on Boston and I was happy I was able to finally root for him. Last year it was A-Rod hands down, the guy really made it a fun year even when we were down early. Just watching his every at-bat and almost expecting that big hit or HR it was fun. This year no one has really stepped up and become my favorite.

                        sorry, two of each, haha.

present: Jeter and Mo. Classy guys who know how to play the game.

past: Lou Gerhig and Paul O'Neill. Gerhig is one of the most inspiring sports figures in history and O'Neill is a classic Yankee who played hard, spoke his mind, and was a favorite of the fans.

                          Jeter for me.

I think he is a class act. Plays the game with style. Carries himself with character.

All Time is Thurman Munson. He was the toughest player I ever saw. On the current team would be Jeter.
