      ^Nice list.

Who would be your LF'er if you had to pick by position played?

          C: Yogi Berra
          1B: Lou Gehrig
          2B: Tony Lazzeri
          SS: Derek Jeter
3B: Alex Rodriguez (seeing as how he's going to be here for the next decade, I'm no longer reluctant to put him here)
LF: Mickey Mantle (DiMaggio was a better defensive CFer, but you can't have Mantle not in the lineup)
          CF: Joe DiMaggio
          RF: Babe Ruth

This would be my second team:

C: Bill Dickey (next would be Thurman Munson, Jorge Posada, Elston Howard)
          1B: Don Mattingly
2B: Joe Gordon (sorry Willie Randolph)
SS: Phil Rizzuto (don't forget about Roger Peckinpaugh)
          3B: Graig Nettles
LF: Charlie Keller (narrowly over Roy White)
CF: Bernie Williams (next would be Earle Combs, Bobby Murcer)
RF: Dave Winfield (over Roger Maris, Tommy Henrich, Paul O'Neill)

That first lineup is pretty amazing. I have six of those players among the 25 best players of all time: Ruth, Mantle, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Rodriguez, and Berra.

The most difficult part is picking a leadoff hitter. I'll go with

                Jeter ss
                Lazzeri 2b
                Ruth rf
                Gehrig 1b
                Dimaggio cf
                Mantle lf
                Berra c
                Nettles 3b
                Ford p

If you wanted to include a dh

                Jeter ss
                Lazzeri 2b
                Ruth lf
                Gehrig 1b
                Jackson rf
                Dimaggio cf
                Mantle dh
                Berra c
                Nettles 3b

I put Mantle as dh because injuries slowed him down. Ruth played both left and right, while Reggie was primarily right. If you would rather, Reggie can be dh and the positions would be the same as the first lineup, with the order as above.
Give me another year or two and I'll put ARod at third. For some reason, I still have difficulty listing him as an all time Yankee, as much as I love him in pinstripes.

Welcome back ARod. Hope you are a Yankee forever.
                Phil Rizzuto-a Yankee forever.
