  • Moves Yankees Should Make

    Not in anyorder:

-Drop Igawa (Has to be someone better in FA, or someone else may want him if anybody is dumb enough)

-Acquire Veteran Pitcher (someone who will give you 6-7 quality innings. At least somebody like Mussina thats still gettin done)

-Get Joba More Relief Innings (stop just using him for an innning to set up Mo. Pitch him 2-4 relief innings. You will not gain the stamina to be a starter by pitching just an innning about twice a week)

-Aquire Another Bat (Trade away Matsui if you can)

    - Jose Tabata, Austin Jackson need to be up (At least in Triple A. They could be contributors for our lousy offense)

    - In the off-season get Teixara and Sabathia

Any comments or the moves you would like to see happen?

    - Igawa won't be DFA'ed. Yankees won't pay for Igawa to be successful on another team. At least, by drop, you mean DFA'ed. Igawa should return to minor league system once again.

    - Who is on the FA market that would give you the results you posted?

    - He pitched yesterday, gave up a run. Chamberlain's usage isn't a problem.

    - I do agree Matsui being dealt could bring in a good return. The problem is Matsui is one of your consistent bats. Why would deal him away?

    - When veterans fail, rookies will succeed. I'm all for rookies, too, but let's not be unrealistic and believe they'll produce at MLB. Have people not learn with Kennedy and Hughes this season that rookie don't succeed at MLB level all the time? Still, I'll avoid commenting further and let a person more familiar with minor league baseball comment further on where the players you mention are at.

    - I'm sure they're going to try that, if both are on the market.

      Word.
-Acquire Veteran Pitcher (someone who will give you 6-7 quality innings. At least somebody like Mussina thats still gettin done)
Because these guys grow on trees and cost nothing, right?

-Get Joba More Relief Innings (stop just using him for an innning to set up Mo. Pitch him 2-4 relief innings. You will not gain the stamina to be a starter by pitching just an innning about twice a week)
He's not starting next week or anything. They'll stretch him out before throwing him in the rotation.

-Aquire Another Bat (Trade away Matsui if you can)
Because these also just fall out of the air, right? Give some ideas at least. And why trade Matsui, who's been one of our few good hitters so far?

      - Jose Tabata, Austin Jackson need to be up (At least in Triple A. They could be contributors for our lousy offense)
Neither of them are particularly lighting up AA, rushing prospects isn't a recipe for success.
      - In the off-season get Teixara and Sabathia
Undecided, but I am a fan of Texeira.

I think Texeira will be a Yankee next year. I also think the Yanks will make a big play for Yu Darvish if he's available, he's very young and it would also help make up for the embarassment of Igawa. I'm not that enthusiastic about getting Sabathia. His weight concerns me.

I read the same article. His father also said New york would be a good choice too in another interview. When and if it happens they'll go where the most money is.

              - Igawa is done. The Fat Toad part Duex.

              - Easier said, then done.

              - I don't want to see Joba extended. He's going to be sent down sometime in July for this. Don't rush it.

              - Why would you trade Matsui to get another bat? Matsui is the Yanks best bat right now.

              - Have you actually looked at their numbers? Tabata is atrocious and Jackson is struggling.

              - I'm okay with going for Tex, but CC I'm skeptical.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

I don't see Igawa going anywhere. I don't see them bringing up any young guys because I don't they have anyone that can help them out NOW on offense. The guys that can help us will be coming off the DL so hopefully things improve.

As for the pitching, I could definitely see them making moves to get a veteran if these young guys keep failing to put in some quality innings.

As for the off-season, I'd like to see them go after Sabathia, Tex, and even... Manny Ramirez!
