I'm not sure how many catchers we'll have or need, but it could mean something about Posada's tenure here. Either that or planning for the future. Not bad, since it's not just between Jorge Posada and Dioneer Navaro, as in the past.
Still, we've got Kelly Stinnett and Wil Nieves. That's 4 catchers so far.

Yankees acquired catcher Keith McDonald from the Rangers for a player to be named.
The Bombers must be giving up Derek Jeter since they're getting one of the greatest hitters in major league history (three homers in nine at-bats in 2000-01). The Yankees may carry three catchers initially, with Wil Nieves getting the third spot, so McDonald becomes another option for Triple-A Columbus.
