  • 2006 Predictions

I'm trying to find out if anyone has any predictions for the 2006 Yankee team. I'd like to know how you feel about the following:

--Number of wins they'll have this season
--Their place in the AL East standings at the end
--If making the playoffs, how far will they go

    The individual player stats:

    Pitching

--Who will be the wins leader?
    --How many saves for Mo?
--Who in the pen will have the 2nd most number of saves, and how many?

    Offense

--Who will play the most games at leadoff: Damon or Jeter?
--Who will hit in the #3, cleanup, #5 and #6 spots the most?
--Who will be our leaders in HR, RBI, OPS, BB, SB?

    Defense

--Will any Yankee win a Gold Gloven?

If anyone wishes to add to these criteria, please feel free to do so.

              Pitching

              R. Johnson. Wins? 1. :P
              --How many saves for Mo?
Not sure. 40ish? At this rate, rofl, none.
--Who in the pen will have the 2nd most number of saves, and how many?
              Farnsworth, no idea.

              Offense

--Who will play the most games at leadoff: Damon or Jeter?
              Definately Damon. phew.
--Who will hit in the #3, cleanup, #5 and #6 spots the most?
A-Rod will move to 3, then shef, then matsui, then giambi :P
--Who will be our leaders in HR, RBI, OPS, BB, SB?
              HR - A-Rod, 40HR
              RBI - A-Rod / Matsui
              OPS - Giambi

                2006 Yankee Predictions

I think the first inning of the second game of the season said it all...Damon singled, Jeter doubled...men on second and third with no one out. Do we play small ball to guarantee we get some runs? Not with this lineup. Do we hit a sacrifice fly to get Damon home? Not with this lineup. Do we try to hit the ball on the ground to the right side to get Damon home? Not these guys. Sheffield, A-Rod and Giambi all struck out. IF THIS TEAM DOESN'T HIT HOME RUNS, THEY LOSE....and will lose this year, the same way they lost last year. If teams are beating the Yankees with small ball and great situational hitting, and Torre had the team playing more station-to-station baseball in the Spring, why are they playing the same way as last year's team? Bat Matsui third and Sheffield fifth and let's concentrate on playing better defense....and maybe we'll MAKE the Series this year. If they continue to play the way they did last year, they'll be lucky to make the playoffs and lose again in the first round when their home runs fail to show up.
