  • Yankees get Ichiro

    Out of nowhere.

Yankees also get some cash, while giving up DJ Mitchell and Danny Farhuquar. Basically they give up nothing.

With a .288 OB%, they better hope he continues to play stellar defense this year.

Maybe a change of scenery can help him turn around a 1 1/2 year slide. Not a lot of pressure on him to do anything but play stellar right field.

Sounds like he's gonna be playing leftfield.

in a few hours this is going to look so different

now batting for the yankees #51 Bernie Williams

as of today july 23,2012, that number (51)won't be bernie any more

I wonder if the yankees even bother asking bernie to give up the number
I am 100% sure, they DID NOT
for me it is sad in a way but happy in another

                ichiro will bat 8th tonight

now batting for the yankees #51 ichiro
at least the road uniform is almost the same shade of gray

I just posted in current events wondering if they were going to let him keep #51. I'd be surprised if they give it to him without talking to Bernie

I like this deal. Ichiro is still playing stellar defense and is great on the basepath. We gave up a sack of potato to get a player who is no question still above "nothing".

"Of course No. 51 is a special number to me, but when I think about what 51 means to the Yankees, it's hard for me to ask for that number," Ichiro said. "I'd like to have a new number and then make that my own."

That's not always true. Ichiro is obviously well past his prime but he is still a decent player.

A 288 OBP with no power at a corner of spot.

Take a look at Wise's numbers.
