  • Ichiro Enjoying Pinstripes

I gotta say that Ichiro has been better than expected. His slash line reads: .315/.337/.489 - 3HR/13RBI - 4/6 SB.
I haven't watched many games since I moved to FL, so I can't comment on his defense but he seems to have quieted the D.Wise fans around here. :o

I wouldn't mind seeing Cashman bringing him back for another go-round.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

He's done far better than could have been imagined. I hope he keeps it up. Too and D. Wise beat us the other night. Oh and also did extremely well in a meaningless little sample.

You know who's benefiting the most from this trade?

Seattle. They've been red hot every since they dumped his over the hill, below relacement level bat.
        My top 10 players:

        1. Babe Ruth
        2. Barry Bonds
        3. Ty Cobb
        4. Ted Williams
        5. Willie Mays
        6. Alex Rodriguez
        7. Hank Aaron
        8. Honus Wagner
        9. Lou Gehrig
        10. Mickey Mantle

It's probably tougher on him hitting deep in the lineup too. He's gotta be the best #9 hitter in baseball.

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

Cano owned that distinction a couple years ago.

He seems to be handling himself with the ravenous media too.

I hope he come back next year, but how? Do we trade Gardner? Not bring Swisher back?
Lou Gehrig is the Truest Yankee of them all!

If he could hit like this sure but i doubt it.

If we were to bring him back, I would re-sign Swish, deal Grandy and move Gardner to CF.

Actually that is a decent outfield. And maybe by 2014 Heathcott, Williams or Flores could be ready.

IMO, that's a weak outfield for power. How about Ichiro, Gardner, Hamilton?

I would not want Hamilton. NY scares me for him. I think he is best off a little ways from the brightest spotlight.

Should have included him. Definitely a possibility, but right now, I feel like Heathcott and Flores may be the closest to contributing. I do not have high hopes for the higher level OF'ers. I do for the 2bmen but that is a different story.

Yeah, NY gives him too many opportunities to party. After thinking about it some more, I will agree with you.
