  • A-Rod's 3,000th hit

Well, he's got 2,901 right now, so barring a major injury, he's going to get it next season. So, how do you think the hype leading up to it and ceremonies will be? Huge? Moderate? Off the radar? Let's discuss it all!

I expect a big deal to be made about it, after all there was a whole marketing thing behind Alex when he resigned. Honestly, Yanks don't really need gimmicks to sell tickets.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

I hardly even noticed his hit total. I expect outside New York, Most people feel the same way.
Let us know when he retires.
We'll throw a 'good-by and good riddence' party.

I expect it to be great, with some hype and I hope it's at home. Of course, it won't be like Jeter's 3,000th (considering he got all of them as a Yankee), but it'll be a lot of fun to watch.

I will be very happy for the man and we as Yankee fans should rejoice in an All-Time Yankee great accomplishing this feat!

Same here, I will be very happy for him to. We have a chance to see 3,000 and 3,500 in the same year by two Yankees.

I never could have imagined it, but it's now looking like he won't get that 3,000th hit in NY. Rumors are swirling today.

On the debit side,he is going to lose his .300 lifetime batting average.

That was inevitable. There was no way he was going to have a lifetime .300 BA- unless he retires very prematurely.

Any milestone he reaches is tainted due to his PED use. I'll be happy for him but I will have a hard time getting excited about it.

He is not very tradeable. Even if we had a better alternative.

We won't get anything better in return, and likely will have to eat huge chunks of his salary. Still, do you think he stays or goes?

Stays. He was still a good player this year. As far as post season goes, he has been no worse those year than other Yanks.

His post season career is actually fairly good.

Personally he looks hurt. An off season of rest and maybe he gets back to at least hosting regular season performance.

I also do not see many good fits without them taking down most of that contract.

Those rumors were started by Keith Olbermann......plus what exactly could the Marlins offer???

Some salary relief. Think AJ trade.
