The bald man with the beard and the scowl and the ridiculous grip on his bat has not returned Joba Chamberlains voice mail. Even a roided-up roger clemens somehow was welcomed and fit in with Jeter and Co., but this guy may have only 12 million reasons he became a Yank. Good going, Cash.

I hate to defend Youkilis, whom I despise, but isn't Joba the bad guy in this saga? Joba's the guy who kept throwing at Youkilis. I wouldn't be so quick to forgive that either...My top 10 players:
1. Babe Ruth
2. Barry Bonds
3. Ty Cobb
4. Ted Williams
5. Willie Mays
6. Alex Rodriguez
7. Hank Aaron
8. Honus Wagner
9. Lou Gehrig
10. Mickey Mantle

Yeah, Joba was the bad guy, which is why he reached out to The Scowl. Youk is probaly laughing too hard at Yanks overly generous deal to call back. This guy is a bad fit, high school BS or not.Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Yankee Stadium. Here are the lineups for todays game...

I think we can make Joba the 'bad guy' here.
1) He's throws at Youkilis
2) He never calls Youk until Youk is a teammate. This suggests that Joba doesn't actually acknowledge that he did anything wrong and is only calling now because they are teammates.
3) Nothing indicates that Joba actually apologized, just that he called Youk.
4) He tells everyone, via the media, that Youk didn't call him back. Creating further disharmony.

In "Bullpen Diaries" Charley Rosen talks about about Joba having a relievers mentality, meaning that he thrives on the pressure of facing batters with the game on the line, with every at-bat an important one. He doesn't have the skills to make it as a starter but he has the guts to be a good reliever. Youklis may be gritty and smelly but he also has declining skills. Let's see how he reacts to the fans booing him the first few times he makes a costly error or fails to get a clutch hit. Does he have the makeup to keep trying or will he wish he never came to NY? More important, does he have the skills? I don't think he does.Last edited by The Monument; 01-23-2013, 08:29 PM.Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Yankee Stadium. All I'm saying is, the Yanks could use a player like The Greek God. On my baseball team we have scruffy guys with long hair who are just grinders, and we have the primadonnas who think they have it all figured out. To me personally, I'll take the grit every time.
Just think about the Yanks infield last year: A-Rod, Jeter, Cano, and Teixeira... They are all the antithesis of Youk. He could either be a great addition, or could oppose the rest of the team. But at any rate, he is still a solid hitter IMO.Rest in Peace Jose Fernandez (1992-2016)
