Yeah the guy in the Post thought it was a smart move too. I look at that .219 avg, the 200 K's and the bad defense and I'm not so sure. So who gets sacrificed from the roster? Austin? Refsnyder?
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Yankee Stadium. Here are the lineups for todays game...

Both. Basically Refsnyder, Austin and Bird were competing for 2 slots. Now they are competing for 1. Ideally Bird wins it but not necessarily.

Well Rob was gonna be the UT, so that's not necessarily what Carter was coming to do.

        I hate this signing.
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

Refsnyder was probably not going to be the UT guy. That was and is Torreyes. Unless he loses the job in spring training.

Austin was supposed to be the RH bat and back up at 1B, RF and DH. Carter is basically the same but more of a known quantity. Not a great one but not without uses. Austin can work on some things at AAA. It is not bad depth.

Pathetic news conference. Yes Betances over reached but no need to insult him after the fact.

If he gets back to that level might even be a true chip at the deadline.

The Yankees are bringing back left-hander Jon Niese on a minor league contract, reports George A. King III of the New York Post. New York released Niese on Sunday, but the expectation was that he’d quickly rejoin the organization if he couldn’t land a major league deal elsewhere.
