Update From Camp: Emil Brown fitting in

Thought I'd post some news from A's camp... Sounds like Emil Brown is fitting in well with a team stacked full of younger guys. At 33, Emil is expected to provide some leadership and guidance... So far he seems pretty well received.

In other news, Joe Blanton threw 2 solid innings in a simulated game over the weekend. He gave up a couple hits but also got a couple K's.

Emil Brown and leadership sounds like an oxymoron to me. In KC all he did was whine about a lack of playing time. This from a defensive liabilty who can't hit the better RHP's.

there is absolutely no need for a player like Emil Brown to be on the A's roster if management has decided to go with a youth movement...it may be tough on the youngsters but they need to play now...there is no need for Carlos Gonzalez etc. etc. to be in AAA and Emil holding down a roster spot ....

I must be overly optimisic this time which is not usual for me... But I tend to agree with the notion that Emil is a whiner. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise us.

It's possible. In his first two seasons in KC he actually hit pretty well. Can't run the bases for squat though.

Agree 100%. I was going through a stack of cards that I pulled for Spring Training and saw a few of Ron and just felt kind of depressed. I wish him well, he's a good man!
