  • Carlos Gonzales!

Welcome to the Big Leagues! He's in the lineup tonight against Texas, and in his first MLB at bat, he doubled! Awesome start! Hope theres many more to come.

EDIT: Another double!! This one with an RBI! 2-2, RBI with 2 doubles in his first two at bats in the big leagues, impressive!!

Sucks to see Mike and Ryan Sweeny added to the long list of DL bound people though.

WOW! Gonzalez's second at bat is another double with an RBI! He seems to make good contact! The A's could probably use a free swinging Jose Guillen type batter in the lineup! It's seems to give pitchers facing the A's an unexpected surprise!

I was so unsure what Beane was doing in the off season. I need to learn how to quit that nonsense and just enjoy the game! Carlos is a welcome addition to the lineup and I hope we can keep him for years to come... Good luck dude! :hyper:

Haha, that's what the long winters will do to the best of us, one day it's this, one day it's that. Beane's crazy, blah, blah, blah. Given his circumstances he has done the best he can. I mean you listen to his reasoning for his offseason moves, there's always somethinig positive out of it. I mean looking at the Gonzales trade(Haren trade back in December huh?), we picked up Greg Smith and Dana Eveland who basically make up 40% of the starting rotation. We're already reaping the benefits of moving Haren, now we will still be waiting for Brett Anderson, who's ETA is probably end of 2009 now.

Gonzales' stroke is so smooth, and at this age. He hits lasers to all fields. Really impressed with his gapper yesterday.

I didn't mind the Haren trade, but I was upset w/the Swisher one. Swish hasn't done squat for the Sox and was moved out of the leadoff to the 7th spot. Is he still batting .208? And we haven't seen anyone from the Swisha deal yet.

Beane is a freakin genius. We wouldn't be in this situation if it weren't for the trades.

          Go A's!

All great points. I thought Swish was a good guy to have in the club house. Since he's gone, I guess that makes Chavez leader by default. (or maybe Ellis?)
