  • Madsen signed for $22M/ 3

Interesting move. The thing I am worried about is Madsen is 35. Would think for around $7M/ year we could find
someone a bit younger - and with a few less injuries in their career?

In recent history the A's haven't found a lights out reliever or closer. Lets hope that the bad signs with guys like Jim Johnson, Eric O Flaherty, etc.. are over. Madson is a risky sign, but if he simply repeats his 2015 or 2011 performance the next 3 years the gamble will pay off.

I'm glad the A's gave up on Abad and I don't expect anything better from Rodriguez. Having good stuff when the heat's off, but losing it and cracking under pressure in close games plus being over 30 is not what we want in the bullpen.
