I may be nitpicking, but Mike Jackson was originally with the Phillies, not the Mariners. Jackson was traded to Seattle on December 9, 1987 along with Glenn Wilson for Phil Bradley and Tim Fortungo.

You have to have kids at a position for them to be able to come up there. We don't have too many who look like they could be our ace. Especially right now.
And while bringing up kids through the system is arguably the most efficient way to do things, it's by no means the only way.

If that's really interesting to you as a Mariners fan then knock yourself out.
I always meant to thank you guys for Tek and Lowe though. That turned out to be one of the best (IE most lopsided in our favor) trades Boston's made in a long time, and I'm counting Pavano for Pedro in that.
Mariners will start to prosper just as soon as they start to trust their own kids in key roles and no sooner

Mariners' history of trading prospects
Does any team have a bigger track record of giving away future productive major leaguers than the Mariners? I'm not saying the Bedard trade will end up like this, but I thought it'd be interesting to come up with a list of such trades by the Mariners(you can add your own examples):
-March 2, 1982: Bud Black given to Royals as player to be named later in trade for Manny Castillo
-July 1, 1986: Ivan Calderon given to White Sox as player to be named later in trade for Scott Bradley
-December 10, 1986: Danny Tartabull traded with Rick Luecken to Royals for Scott Bankhead, Mike Kingery, and Steve Shields
-December 10, 1993: Mike Hampton traded with Mike Felder to Astros for Eric Anthony
-May 21, 1995: Shawn Estes traded with Wilson Delgado to Giants for Salomon Torres
-July 31, 1996: Desi Relaford traded to Phillies for Terry Mulholland-
-September 13, 1996: David Ortiz given to Twins as player to be named later in trade for Dave Hollins
-July 31, 1997: Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek traded to Red Sox for Heathcliff Slocumb, Jose Cruz, Jr. traded to Blue Jays for Mike Timlin and Paul SpoljaricTags: None
