200 hits ? (.300) average ?
Can Ichiro Suzuki reach the two hundred (200) hit level and finish with an BA of more than (.300) ? It looks like yes to both questions. With (23) games left, (he's 0-4 today) and having (186) hits if he gets one hit per game he will make it. Likewise, he's hitting (.316) with (100) or so AB's until the end of the season. It would take a hugh slump to hit less than (.300). He should get (30) more hits in his last 100 AB's and finish with (214) hits. It would be his sixth striaght (200) hit season.
While looking at Ichiro's numbers, I noticed he's on pace to finish the season with (1346) hits for his six year Big League Career. This is just (1654) hits from (3000). Just you say R.S. ? Yep. His big league average through (6) years is (224) hits per year. This will take him seven (7 1/2) and one half years to reach three thousand hits (3000). This is barring any injury. With the way guys keep in shape these days, it's possible. Rickey Henderson stretched early and throughout his career, which helped him play into his 40's. Ichiro is a flexibility nut. If you ever watch him go through his gyrations, you know. If he does this, he will be about (37) years old. Old for a speed guy, but who knows. Every time someone says Ichiro is all done, he comes back and shows us something. He's a WOW ! figure in his (1434) hits with Orix and his projected (3000) hits in the bigs, then he will have more hits than the all-time hits leader (4256), Pete Rose.
