  • Millwood Showed a Lot Of Guts In Reaching Milestone

Kevin Millwood struck out 6 Yankees on Mothers' Day, MaY 13 TO BECOME THE 66TH PITCHER IN MLB HISTORY TO RECORD 2,000 STRIKEOUTS. Millwood 2000th strikeout victim was Curtis Granderson and the 6 Ks brought his career strikeout total to 2004. He worked 7 innings yielding only one run in earning the win, as the Mariners triumphed 6-2 at Yankee Stadium.
This moment seemed very unlikely to occur just a year ago. Millwood had to return to the minors out of Spring TrAINING AND SPENT MORE THAN 2/3 OF THE SEASON THERE BEFORE BEING CALLED UP TO THE COLORADO ROCKIES IN EARLY AUGUST 2011. Overall he is 164-144, had a career high of 18 wins (twice) and his best strikeout season was 1999 when he fanned 205 batters for the Atlanta Braves, in the only year he made an all-star team.
