While researching info on Sth African baseball for the International Baseball Forum I found this interesting link regarding Mariners recruiting - perhaps it is old news to you diehard Mariner fans, but I hope you don't mind me posting here for all to read if you wish

    United Nations indeed!!

No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

    United Nations indeed!!
I know that this is a bit old, but I was searching through some of the old threads here and found this, must have missed it the first time.

As we are seeing, with the WBC and all, Baseball is an international game now, and will only become more so in the future, and I am glad that the Mariner's already have a solid recruiting base in many of them mostly untapped places.

Before the WBC tournament started, I never new that there was any baseball organizations down in S.Africa, and although as we have seen, they are far behind most other nations, they still are an untapped source of possible talent, and given the time and resources, they could build a solid setup down there (from which the MLB will most likely glean from, but still).
