    1) 80 wins
    2) in the wildcard hunt throughout much of the summer
    3) Kaz gets some Cy Young attention, Pena some MVP love
    4) the new stadium gets voter approval but financing is difficult

I don't make any predictions. But I would be satisfied if the team could have a winning record this year.

OK. One prediction: Longoria smacking near 30 homers and Sonnanstine having a break out year.

Pena has a good year with numbers slightly less then last year.
      Aki does well at 2b.
Bartlett turns out to be better then many of us think.
Longoria starts the season in AAA. Aybar starts at 3b on opening day.
Crawford is Crawford. Sensational as always.
Upton builds on last years success with better plate discipline.
Delmon Youngs arm and potential will be missed but not his attitude. Addition
      by subtraction.
Navarro improves but still not enough to satisfy most people.
Kaz and Shields win more games. Garza is ok, but struggles at times as he
learns to be a regular rotation starter.
Andy S. solidifies himself as SP 4. Jackson is gone by mid year replaced by
      Niemann.

In baseball nothing is impossible. But I really think that you have lost your sense of realism here...

Final record of 82-80, 3rd place behind Boston and NY. Shields wins 16, Kazmir 15, Percival saves 32. Pena hits 34 HR, 102 RBI. Upton is considered the next great CF in baseball, while going 30-30. Crawford steals 55 and bats .305. A buzz begins in the Tampa Bay area as they begin to win, and baseball is again relevant. Longoria wins the 3B job in the spring, and struggles at times, but comes on down the stretch to hit .285, with 22 HR and 87 RBI.

                Pena hits over 40 homers...

Every Rays player on my fantasy team does well

BTW, it says I'm a cards fan, but my second favorite team is the Rays

Rays finish 78-84, but are 6 games over .500 and chasing the wildcard at the all-star break, possibly ahead if New York before their unique melange of inexperience and age, plus the lack of depth that's the plague of every small market team, starts to sink them down the stretch run.

Fourth place with Toronto running a close third behind NY and B. Many individual moments of greatness by various Rays such as Kazmir and Pena. Vast improvements lead to a general consensus that 2008 was kind to Tampa Bay.

Carlos Pena has an overall good year but hits a strikeout-riddled funk in August and September that plays a big role in the team's fortunes.

Tampa's bullpen is still a sore spot but isn't league-worst by a considerable margin this year.

Garza struggles out of the gate but goes on a tear down the stretch and all but puts the team over .500 all by himself. With the top 3 rotation spots secure, Tampa Bay's rotation becomes overrated for the first time in its history.

Baldelli has a healthy year as Tampa's starting right fielder, where he hits .290/.300/.450 as per his usual plate discipline. Takes his first walk sometime in mid-June.

The team experiments with Crawford in center before giving the job to Upton again. At the deadline they try to upgrade their defense in center by investing in Wily Mo Pena.

Patience with Dionner Navarro is rewarded as he achieves a .340 OBP with a smattering of power.

Anything less than a ring will be disappointing!!!

Because - They play to win it all. Why can't they???

But this WILL be a surprising season for the rest of the world. The rest of us Rays fans know what's going on here...

In reality... 2008 is the springboard year into "Rays dynasty"

It's never been brighter in St Pete!!!

Prediction - 90 wins and a bunch of scared Red Sox and Yankees fans in August and September... and a bunch of sudden bandwagon fans by the end of May.
