  • Longoria Update

In 3 games with Durham so far this year Evan Longoria has had 11 ab's with
0 hits and 4 strikeouts. It will be interesting to follow his performances given
how many of us were against sending him down.

I'm guessing it's like a college basketball team that thought they belonged in the NCAA tourney but were snubbed, then come out flat in the NIT. He'll come around.

Longoria is now 0-14 after an 0-3 today. He did have two walks in todays game.If he had to have a slow start, its better that he is in AAA. He will come around, and we will forget all about his slow start.

Hopefully he shakes off his minor league doldrums and makes a solid contribution. Just .280 with 15 HRs with good play at 3B would be perfectly acceptable for this year, imo.

                  2010 - $950,000
                  2011 - $2-million
                  2012 - $4.5-million
                  2013 - $6-million

What the heck was Longoria's agent thinking? If he plays well enough for the Rays to pick up his three option years he will be a steal at those prices.

I think it's a great move for them. Not everything is about money and it's nice to see a young player just sign a contract that will put plenty of food on his table for years to come and just worry about playing baseball. Weird how when people sign contracts under their worth people, people are critical of the agent. But when the agents are in it for the money, they also get criticized.
