  • Aki doesn't look the same

Maybe he's concentrating more on his defense this year at his new position. But he looks nothing at bat like he did last year. He does the classic Japanese ballplayers swing, lifting the front leg and trying to slap the ball the opposite way. But rather than striding forward, to me he is stepping in the bucket way too far, and ends up being a sucker for the sweeping curve on the outside corner. If the pitcher leaves one too far inside, he can drive it up the middle or to RF, but otherwise he looks lost. Do the rest of you see the same thing I do? If I do, why hasn't the hitting coach?

I agree - he's out of sorts and keeps lifting the ball weakly to the outfield. I'd say he should move down in the lineup, but who would lead off? Barrett is also struggling mightily, and Crawford has settled in nicely at #2.

Well so much for my theory! Aki steps into one and sends it into orbit in the bottom of the 8th, Rays up 2-1 vs the Sox. Come on Percy, shut the door and let's go get a beer!!

I got him on my fantasy team... unfortunately, I moved him from starting to the bench.

You get all the credit, imo.
