Joe Koshansky falls victim to the Colorado Rockies first base black hole. Todd Helton has first base locked up for the next few years and Joe Koshansky has nowhere to play. Just like Ryan Shealy a few years ago who was a big bat that played first base and was dealt, Joe Koshansky was put onto waivers and the Texas Rangers snapped him up. He was out of options for Colorado so to move him back to AAA he had to clear the waiver process – unfortunately the Rockies will not get anything in return for him.

Koshanky will report to the Rangers AAA club and will be put on the 40 man roster for the Rangers. Chris Davis showed some potential last year for the Rangers and currently is slated to start at first base. Besides Davis not being as established in the big leagues as Todd Helton the American League also has the DH so the path to consistent playing time in The Show just got a lot easier for Koshansky.
