Uniform questions (silly?)

I have a couple of questions about the Rangers uniforms. Warning: Possibly silly and meaningless nitpicking to follow.

1) As I understand it, they have two different home unis (white jersey/trousers, red jersey/white trousers) and two road unis (gray/gray, or blue/gray). How do they decide which to use? Does it depend on the colors worn by their opponent?

2) When wearing the white/white, they can wear either a red shirt or a blue one under it, isn't that right? I coulda sworn I've seen both.

Oh, okay, three questions:

3) Do the Rangers ever wear white or gray caps? I know they have blue and red...

They have worn blue caps and jerseys over white pants in home games as well as red over white and white over white. I've never seen them wear red on the road, so the road unis are either gray jerseys and gray pants or blue jerseys and gray pants. They always wear the blue caps on the road. At home, they have worn red caps with the white jerseys, but they usually wear blue caps with the white. They always wear blue caps when they wear blue jerseys. They've always worn red caps with the red jerseys They've never had white or gray caps.

It was my understanding that for the home games, the starting pitcher decides what uniform combination to wear. So for home games, the combinations are: 1) blue caps, white jerseys, 2) red caps, white jerseys, 3) red caps, red jerseys, 4) blue caps, blue jerseys.
