In my life if the Jays sign Barry Bonds. The hate I have for this man is enough for me to no longer be a fan of my favourite sports team if I ever see him with the word Jays accross his chest I vow to never watch a Toronto Blue Jays game in my life.

I cant find any link but i do remember in the off season a rumor of Bonds to T.O. When they just released Thomas the first thing i thought was "I hope they didnt just clear a roster spot of Bonds"
I doubt it would happen as KCGHOST said all GM's know the fans outside of San Fran hate Bonds as a person"I see no reason why a small-market team like the Twins or Expos can't continue to remain competitive, just because it lacks players," Selig said.

I think all the Bonds to the Blue Jays talk is coming from dumb media types who really don't care about the Blue Jay. it seems like it comes from monkeys with typewriters that don't follow the Blue Jays anyway that are just hungry for a story. They seem to think that any team that may require a DH (Toronto doesn't even fit the bill) will be knocking down Bond's door. Anyone close to the team knows better. Say theoretically the Blue Jays do sign Barry Bonds, it would probably be one of the last moves he ever makes a GM. even if Bonds came in, focused on playing good ball, played well, and helped the team, JP would still receive severe backlash from many fans (for instance the maker of this thread.) Any GM that causes that much turmoil and dissent would not last long.Like Maple Syrup, Canada's evil oozes over the United States.

I've been trying to figure out what I'd think if we happened to sign Bonds. On one hand, there's all the steroid stuff. But on the other, he's still an amazing hitter, and being in a position where he could DH would make him even better. Sure he's the figurehead for steroids in baseball, but the Jays have had Glaus, Sprague, Clemens and likely countless other 'roiders. Would Bonds be so different?WAMCO!

One of two things will happen if the Jays sign Bonds:
1) He comes out to prove a point and hits the cover off the ball like Blue Jays has ever hit. The Toronto fans embrace him because we are a swell and forgiving bunch and since he has been scorned by Americans we'll be like "with the stronger Canadian dollar we were able to buy your best baseball player" and all will be well.
2) He totally flames out. Bad press everywhere. Ted Rogers calls Godfrey into his office and demands heads roll. JP's head is seen rolling down the Rogers Centre steps, cleaning crews spend weeks scrubbing all the whatever it is he puts in his hair off so the steps are safe to walk again and all will be well.
As far as the steriods thing goes, unless the Oakland A's send over the 1989 ALCS banner which they got from us because there entire team was juiced and ours was clean, I refuse to condemn any player.
