  • Typical Rolen

For starters...yes I'm a Cardinal fan, so I've seen this many times before. I first posted this on a Cardinals forum as it is directed towards Cardinal fans. Look foward to more and more and more...etc. of this while the Blue Jays have Rolen.

Although Glaus is no superstar in the line up, I'm still not missing Rolen. Doesn't the bold quote from Rolen sound familiar?

    Blue Jays activate Rolen
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)—Scott Rolen, who fractured his right middle finger in spring training, was activated Friday from the disabled list by the Toronto Blue Jays and was in the lineup at third base against the Kansas City Royals.

Rolen, who was acquired in a Jan. 14 trade with St. Louis for Troy Glaus, was 0-for-9 in three games on a rehabilitation assignment with Class-A Dunedin.

“I had a pretty exciting rehab stint, 0-for-9 with an error and they probably could have given me two that inning, actually,” Rolen said, jokingly. “I think if they were in a Florida State pennant race, they would’ve been happy to see me go. I was killing them.”

Rolen hurt the finger on March 23 in a fielding drill and had surgery to implant a pin, then another surgery to remove it.

“We don’t expect him to come in and carry the team,” Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. “It’s unfair to him to think he’s going to come in and save the day. He’s just got to fit in and do his thing. We need him. He’s anxious to get going.”

The Blue Jays had lost five straight and ranked 12th in the American League with a .369 slugging percentage entering Friday. Rolen has 261 home runs and 1,012 RBIs in 11-plus seasons. He hit .345 with a homer and three doubles in 29 at-bats in spring training before the injury.

“I still have a pretty significant bone bruise on the end of it. I feel it when I throw and I feel it when I hit,” Rolen said. “I think my options are I can sit for a month and do nothing and wait for that to heal or I can go play. I think it’s time to play.”

This Cards fan sure misses Rolen, especially his incredible defense. First game back, 2-5 with a homer.

    I wish him well......

In his first couple back, he's been hitting really well. Hopefully he'll get the team going out of this freshly-ended 5 game slide.

So far I've really liked what I've seen from Scott Rolen. His hitting, his defense, his patience at the first. I'm looking forward to seeing him hit mid season form.

Rolen is a superb player, but his career is fast becoming one of those "what-might-have-been" careers.

From what I see Scott Rolen has been awesome so far. He is hitting real good. He has also been doing good defensivly to. I think the Blue Jays did a good deal by getting rid of Glaus.

As a Phils fan, I'll take Rolen back in a heartbeat. Never wanted to see him traded from the Phils.

That's strange...how is Rolen's defense since he isn't playing because yet another shoulder problem. Don't worry guy, I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Yeah, injuries. Why I hated this trade.

While I love Rolen's defense. ANd when healthy he is the better player. You gotta think would you rather have Glaus for 120 Games or Rolen for 50.

Troy Glaus would have been nice in the DH spot this year, but Rolen is here; not Glaus. I like Rolen when he's healthy. Too bad the shoulder had to flare up
