    Great list, Sean--thanks.

Jimmy Sheckard did it on consecutive days!?!?! Wow, now that is impressive!!

And Honus Wagner 5 times over the period 1898 - 1915. He must have retained his speed over many years.

        Thank you for this info!

Wow, I didn't even notice that about Wagner. Not bad for a guy who in 1915 was already 41! Plus he stole 22 bases that season and had 17 triples!!! I also have to add all this was 100% steroid free as well.

This is my first post here. Enjoyed the list of ITPGS's. There are a number of similar lists that I've tried to find in my web-surfing with no success. Outside of SABR, can you or anyone else point me in the right direction to find any of the following.

            1) Catalogue of all Major League triple plays.

            2) All time list of arbitration winners and losers.

            3) List of all former replacement players who subsequently played in the majors.

Believe me, I've tried to track the above down, so I'm not being lazy and asking others to do the work for me. Cheap, maybe, since I don't want to join SABR.

Hi Wilbur! I have been pointed in the direction of which is a wonderful source of all baseball stats and trivia.

I remember when Junior Felix did it... it was the "Miracle Mart Hit-and Win inning" on the radio broadcast, where names are drawn and the contestant wins X amount of money if the Jays player hits a single, Y for a double, etc., and $10,000 for a grand slam. The woman who won must have had a heart attack if she was listening!

Just looked at the list again...Karkovice??? Who the heck was playing outfield THAT day?

                  • #10
Jimmy Sheckard BRO did it twice in consecutive games which is great. Also note that in the first game he did it, his fellow teammate Joe Kelly also had one, so both players did it during the same game on 09/23/1901.

Looking at the list, the big name players are absent somewhat. I wonder how many of those players are in the Hall of Fame?

                      ISTPGS on 6/26/76

I saw this feat by Bombo Rivera of the Expos against my beloved Pirates at Jarry Park.

I was in Pennsylvania visiting relatives and we watched the game on KDKA out of Pittsburgh.

IIRC, Rivera hit the omnipitent sinking line drive to center field where Bucs CF Al Oliver tried for the catch. He missed! (DUH!) And, playing in Jarry Park with it's monsterous outfield, it certainly didn't help Pittsburgh's cause in fielding the ball!

Pittsburgh did eventually go on the win this game by a 7-6 score. For a wrap-up of the game....

                        Run Rabbit Run!!

You have to love a guy named Rabbit (Maranville) doing it twice in the same year ('14)!!

i was very surprised to find the list was so long. ive just got one question, were these legitamate in-the-park-homeruns with no errors or was definsive folleys? either way it still requires blinding speed i was just curious

An inside-the-park grand slam is to me the most exciting play in baseball. I remember as a little kid Mel Stottlemyre doing it. I'd love to ask him if that was his most memorable plate appearance in the majors.
