For the same reason that we have a Negro Leagues forum: much of what went on in the 19th Century would be lost in the many debates about the 20 greatest catchers, 3Bmen, etc. If you wanted to focus on something, then I believe you would need to separate things. Therefore, since the 19th century gets less attention, things about that era can be better served by keeping it in its own place.

The history of Negro Leagues baseball would also be lost in the many discussions had a new forum not been created. BBF's "History" forum would be overwhelmed with many posts questioning or lauding the greatness of countless players and managers of the post. By making separate forums, these two important topics get to stand on their own.

And I didn't think about the Teams of Yesteryear part. I didn't think about the Negro Leagues part. Of course those topics also belong to history.

It was not my intention to eliminate the Nineteenth Century part.
