So why was my comment on the Dwight Evans thread deleted? Because it was critical of a moderators attitude? The mods don't seem to care when I'm (and a few others) are getting personally aattacked on various threads, but they are above criticism? What gives?

The thread explained my position, and now I'm keeping to it.Seen on a bumper sticker: If only closed minds came with closed mouths.
Some minds are like concrete--thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.

You think I am--but the only restriction is that in a thread about Dwight Evans, you bring your post back to a point about him--the topic of the post. The thread and the HOF forum have had a rash of thread hijackings lately, none caused by you, and mostly by one particular user. There have been complaints about that, which I feel are legitimate. The rule requiring that posts in that thread is my best answer to resolving the competing interests at stake. I do not think it is burdensome to require that a post in a thread about Dwight Evans eventually come back to a point about Evans. If you do, so be it--but the rule will stand. As often happens, one person's abuse of the system can cause ripple effects to others. This is one of those cases.Seen on a bumper sticker: If only closed minds came with closed mouths.

When one or a series of users is rude enough to repeatedly highjack the same thread despite polite requests not to, that smacks of high school behavoir. We apparently differ over the significance of the requirement of having to relate the thread back to the stated topic of Dwight Evans. I see that as a small issue, you apparently do not. I also will suggest to you that other users have indicated that they found the hijackings of the thread an impediment to their enjoyment of the thread. I am charged as a mod to represent the interests of all proper users, and I have crafted my best answer to balance the issues of all concerned. You have the right not to like my answer, but I have no intention of changing it unless ordered to do so by the admins or webmaster.Seen on a bumper sticker: If only closed minds came with closed mouths.

Whether I've walked in your shoes or not would likelly increase my respect for the mods on this site (which isn't very high).Put it in the books.
