  • Can anyone help ID my fathers old catchers mitt and date it?

My father used this mitt in the 1920’s I believe. He continued to catch with it when I was pitching in the 1960’s. There is no tag on it and well used. Anyone know the history on my glove?

You check for a label or brand inside the hand hole?
"No matter how great you were once upon a time — the years go by, and men forget,” - W. A. Phelon in Baseball Magazine in 1915. “Ross Barnes, forty years ago, was as great as Cobb or Wagner ever dared to be. Had scores been kept then as now, he would have seemed incomparably marvelous.”

Looks a lot like this Higgins model on ebay, listed as a Higgins mitt, "Charles Gabby Hartnett Chicago Cubs" model.

Yours has been repaired on the palm with a big circle of new leather. Otherwise though I think it's a match. Interesting how well the buckle leather held up, compared to the rest of the mitt.
