My son is 13 and Is playing Babe Ruth this season. He is a good contact hitter and has good bat speed. He is 5'3 and 115lbs. He had a 2007 -8.5 Vexxum last year and that worked well with him. What is a better bat for him this year, a Voodoo? Vexxum? or Stealth? Or any other opinions.

if he is a contact hitter you will probably want to rule out the voodoo because its demarini's top loaded bat meaning its made for the power hitter, the vexxum is balanced as you probably realized thus making it nice for the contact hitter but it almost feels like I get nothing behind the ball when I use it. I used a stealth last year and I liked it but this year I think I'm going with a rawlings rush...I'd go with the stealth personally, but its all based upon preference swing em all decide which one

"Only problem is is that if you get jammed the ball goes no where."
You're not supposed to hit on the handle. You're supposed to it on the sweet spot. Stating not being able to hit well off the handle is a great example of bats that don't help kids learn how to hit properly. I'm waiting for some company to come out with a properly weighted Bam-Bam Flintstone model.

We have had no durability issues with the Vexxum. Not sure how it only lasts one season? Did your's break somehow?

Well Honestly, like stated above, most Demarini's completely lose their pop after a season or two.
Right now, i have the new Easton Stealth Comp. Composite Bats are more for the powerhitter, and thus, it is my favorite so far. It's a good contact bat, and actually very very balanced. with your son being 5'3, i doubt he would be comfortable swinging a highschool bat (drop 3), so getting him an easton Stealth Composite Adult league bat, which i believe the drop is -12, would be a good decision.
Easton Stealth's are durable, and last for 3 or 4 seasons without losing too much pop if used correctly.
So based on personal experience, my reccomendation would be the Easton Stealth. Composite, or Alluminum, it is the best choice for your son.

And I back the Exo up as well. I have 2 bats. The TPX Exo, and the Easton Stealth Comp. And i use both regularly. I'm a Senior at Riverdale Highschool, Which some of you might know as the 2008 Regional Champs, and our State Championship series is this saturday.
Everyone on my team uses Exo's and Stealth Comp's. I've hit 6 Homeruns with the Exo, and 8 with the Stealth Comp. Our whole team has over 100 homeruns this season. most of them, being with the Stealth or Exo.
