high school rule question.

States can play under Fed rules, but they can alter the rules any way they see fit. It is up to the state's coaches' associaton or whatever governing body to decide what the rules will be. The Fed rules are merely a guideline.

My hometown is near the state border. When I coached high school ball, we needed to make sure our players were aware of the differences in rules when crossing the border as we went by the home team's state rules.

Are states required to play by FED rules or do they have the option adopt FED rules as their standard. Unless all fifty states are required to play by FED rules and not opt out of FED rules my advice stands. Are privates school required to play by FED rules or do the leagues choose to adopt them? Not every private in our state plays under state rules. Unless every school in the country plays by FED rules, blow it out your bazoo.

Typical coach. Read (if that) only part of the rules. If you read the FED Rules and Case Books, you might learn more than you think you know.

i heard that you can not use a 2 colored glove in high school to pitch? is this true? i was thinking about getting this new rawlings pro preferred with a brown back shell and web, with a camel palm and inside fingers. Would this be legal to pitch with? because if not i dont want to wate my mony and not be able to play my main position with it.

DAB 16: You're very smart for wanting to know the interpretation BEFORE spending money on a glove you may not be permitted to use. "Multi-colored" is interpreted to mean conflicting colors. For example: Red/Blue; Red/Brown; Brown/Blue, etc. However, different shades of the same color are permitted. For examle: Brown/Tan; Royal Blue/Navy Blue; Red/Maroon, etc. REMEMBER, White and/or Gray gloves are not legal for pitchers.

Check with your local High School Umpires' Association for rules interpretations. You can get their address from your school's Athletic Director.

You will have to check your state's regulations. In our state (PA) any glove that is all or part white or gray is not allowed on the mound. Some coaches don't even know the rule. A coach tried to distract my son by having his tan and black glove tossed. The umpire said it wasn't against the rules.
