  • First year player draft

Hope this is in the correct forum. I have a question regarding the First year player draft. Is there a restriction on how many drafted players an MLB team can assign to the Majors, AAA, AA or A? Did this change with the new CBA?

    Thanks

I do not think so. If a player is good enough to make the major league club a team will let him. Drafted players usually will play in short season Rookie leagues or Hi A or Lo A. But if they are good enough to play at the AA or AAA level I'm sure they will. It's just not common to see guys go from being drafted to playing in AA and AAA. I guess it could happen if a player played 4 years in a conference full of great competition and they had room for him to pitch or play catcher at AA. But in most cases he's going to start in rookie league or one of the A levels.
