  • Getting my name out colleges

I'm currently a freshman at a community college that unfortunately has no baseball team. But I'm working on my game everyday with hopes of transferring to a d3 university in 2 years and playing baseball. How should I go about getting my name out to coaches and the whole process? I know I'm in a tougher position because we my school doesn't have a team but I don't want to let that stop me.

    Thanks

what position do you play? do you currently play in a team? how good were you in HS ball?
I now have my own non commercial blog about training for batspeed and power using my training experience in baseball and track and field.

My best position is outfield but I also pitch. Really I play any position well, that was kind of my role in high school. I didn't play for the team in 11th and 12th grade but I still played everyday with friends and turned myself into a good pitcher. I coached and played on a rec team in the summer.

My mind state after 10th grade was just to play for fun and I didn't want to deal with the the coach and varsity atmosphere because it was run more like a boot camp than a baseball team. I don't regret it because that's what I felt that was best for me at the time. But after 2 years my attitude has changed and I just want to play, no matter the level, I just want to play.

I think my skills will be good enough for that level, as long as I keep getting better and stronger. This summer I was throwing high 70's with a 2 seamer that has a lot of movement, and a good curveball. I know I can improve my velocity into the 80's. I never threw very hard from the time I was a kid so I learned how to pitch, and how to locate pitches. This summer all I did was play everyday, no workouts or throwing in the winter. So I wasn't getting the most out of my potential

Defense was always my strong point and why I made the JV team. I had the coaches tell me I was good enough defensively to play center for anybody. I have good range, good reads, first step, etc. I love defense. Offensively, I was the guy who always made contact and drew walks, I just had no strength. All singles. Lol.

I know my path is different than most players but I know that when I put the work in, I will be good enough to play. I'm not looking to be a star division 1 haha I'm realistic and would just love to play for a small school. I just need to show a coach that I can.

Your gonna have to run man, especially if you pitch.

That was pretty much my game too.

I didn't play past the high school level. We were pretty good. Made the playoffs. Not the powerhouse we were in the late 90's early 2000's. Only got one letter, from Liberty University. Wish I'd have taken the offer.

I have buddies that pitched DIII. It is a different ball game. Hit at a batting cage. Get used to swinging at heat, at least.
"No matter how great you were once upon a time — the years go by, and men forget,” - W. A. Phelon in Baseball Magazine in 1915. “Ross Barnes, forty years ago, was as great as Cobb or Wagner ever dared to be. Had scores been kept then as now, he would have seemed incomparably marvelous.”
