Now my dream park would be just plain crazy.

The dimensions would be rediculouse with 100ft to left field with a 4ft high wall. The center field wall would be zig zag and ranging from about 300ft to 500ft and then 450ft to right field with a 30ft high wall. No foul ball area as the crowd comes right down to the diamond.

I'm not sure about the stadium and the facilities but I definitely would like a hippo petting zoo.

As you can probably tell, I have freaky dreams. Personally I don't think it will ever be built.h

yea, i would like to do like 91 feet all around (now you got to slide into 1st!)

and 1 ft walls, so fielders and jump, or walk over the fence and try to catch the ball if there fast enough.


or maybe the opposite, 200 foot walls then you would have a lot of balls bounce back and land behind the plate in foul territory. lol, if it goes in the stands, it would have to be like a ground rule double.

I also just wanted to take a normal ballpark, and cut a circle, 100 ft di, and put a wall around it with seats in it. you can put this like right in the middle, between OF and IF. then you would have a lot of pop ups be HR's. and the fans would love to walk on the field to there seat before the game.

Haven't seen any additions to this thread in a while, so I thought I would bump it and add my own.

If I owned the Yankees right now I would do the following;

Yankee Stadium would remain standing and it would get a new mix of the old and new to give it some of the charm it lost in the renovation.

For starters the seats behind home plate have been moved in considerably bringing fans closer to the action and to make up for some of the other seats that have been eliminated, but 'll touch on that later. To bring back some of the old feel the park once had the outfield fences will be moved to where they were in '76 after the renovation and monument park's access is moved to accomodate bleacher fans as well.

A roof would be added that went all the way out over the entire upper deck with support posts and it would also sport an exact replica made of copper of the frieze that one adorned the original Yankee Stadium design. In order to give upper deck fans a more comfortable experience there has also been a concourse added around what is now the ouside roof of the stadium (its shown on the blue portion of the crossection.

The lodge level is made a little smaller to accomadate two levels of suites. Another level of suites is added at the top of the lower bowl. I think with this the old ballyard would have more than enough to be considered modern.

The loading area behind the visitor's bullpen is modified some, a three story restaurant/museum/team shop is built there with the first story still being the loading area that is presently there.

The final touches are to also add a restaurant in the batter's eye (a growing trend in ballparks these days and I feel a welcome one) and to add a manual scoreboard where the original sat before Yankee Stadium was renovated in the 70's

Anyway, here is the drawing I did of my dream Yankee Stadium, hope you all enjoy it. The red shows the suites, and the black areas show the new restaurants and such as well.

The only thing that might pose a problem would be that the posts, at least some of them, would have to go through all the way to the lower deck, otherwise the upper deck might collapse under the stress of the roof.

Nah, you have to think positive... you can't have no in your heart... Ok, a few could have to go all the way through. But it would definately bring back a considerable amount of the charm the Bronx Ballyard once had so much of.

Alright. I'm ready. I have my internet back and I'm raring to go.

Here's the first one. I mad it while my internet was down, and had nothing else to do on the computer. I made it in paint, so I didn't have much chance to be creative. Just something to pass the time really. Working out the dimensions with Pythagorean theorem was pretty fulfilling. That was pretty much it. Here it is:

It isn't my dream ballpark. Just a fun one to draw. I would put a high wall in right. Not a huge one (aka not trying to be like Boston), but maybe like 15 feet. Left would be smaller. Maybe 8 ft. Other than that, this is just a little something I drew up.

My next one is the one that I love.

Nineteen Fifty-Nine Field

Here is my pride and joy. Hand drawn goodness (explaination follows):

This is what I was building up to with my sketches and doodles. It's my dream stadium.

A minor league stadium, Nineteen Fifty-Nine Field is a place of fun and tradition.

Schefferville is a small mining town in northern Quebec. I saw it on a globe, and thought that it was the kind of place that would need a ballpark. Ignore weather issues. It's a place where a small town gets together to rally around the local nine. The team is called The Halogens.

-The field was built in 1959, when Schefferville was a booming mining town. It's now close to abandonned and only the true loyal fans remain.
-The seats and bleachers are made of wood, and the park is made of brick. It smells old and full of memories. The only smells are of fresh cut grass, hot dogs, and the old musty smell of a ballpark.
-The tickets are $5 for the bleachers, $12 for grandstand, and $10 for upper deck.
-The concessions sell only Hot Dogs, Peanuts and Coke/Iced Tea. All $1.
-The cross-section of the grandstand is in the bottom right. The upper deck is close to the action, as it should be. The lights are the wierd things on top of the roof.
-The pink part is the concourse. The part above that is the upper concourse. Its open-air (but covered by the roof).
-The area in left field is special. When a Home Run is hit there, no one is allowed to touch it. It will sit there for eternity, in peace. The only one allowed in is the old custodian of the park. People will recall the time that the local hero won the big game with a shot to left field, and gaze upon the old weathered ball in awe.
-A single memorial in right-centre honours anyone who loves the game and devotes themselves to a team like The Halogens. It remembers any person who ever coached or contributed to any youth league team.
