im interested to know whose idea it was to put up the tall wall so the people on the rooftops couldn't see the game...it looks like a nice stadium even with the wall but i think it would have looked better with the rooftop seatingHouston Rockets

It was the Phils' idea. They didn't like the idea of so many people watching the games for free, so they erected what is commonly known as the "spite fence" in the 1930s specifically to block the view of the houses across the street.
I agree with you... being able to see those rowhouses would have added character to Shibe.
