  • Citi Field vs. New Yankee Stadium

    As requested.

Use this thread to debate about the two ballparks opening in New York in 2009.

Citi Bank Park is going to be hodge-podge and an ode to the Dodgers, and Yankee Stadium is going to be a cathedral and be home to many championships.

Now lets try judging the stadiums and not the teams.

This should be fun. Who has the better main entrance.

More like a sterile hospital that could pass as US Cellular Field on the inside.

I love that the Yankees are moving into this new stadium. The whole thing has bad karma written all over it for them.

NYS doesn't have a "main entrance." They all look the same.

This thread was a very, very bad idea.

The Yankee Stadium thread is also about 7 months older.

                Agreed, I'm regretting it...

The not-so-great hall looks like a hospital in all the computerized images.

                    NYS
Pros...freize, facade, gold lettering 'Yankee Stadium.' non-corporate name.

Cons...main grandstand, $1.3 billion, obstucted view due to restaurant, location, fails to capture pre-renovated YS.

                    Citi
Pros...facade covering rotunda, improvement over Shea, looks great from a distance (wideshot, aerial)

Cons...main grandstand, left field grandstand's alignment, facade down baselines, location, green seats, too much Dodgers.

Both of these are shaping up to be very nice ballparks. I can't wait to check them out in a year.

Locations? What's wrong with the Bronx and Queens?

Joking aside, the Yankees could never leave the South Bronx.

From this angle it looks a lot like the security hallway at LAX.

I didn't mean to piss off anyone from Queens or the Bronx. I'm not saying they should play in Manhatten, I just wish Citi was on the river and NYS had some good bars and restaurants nearby. (last time I was there they didn't)

I don't think there's really much to debate here.

The new home of the Yankees looks like something you might store corpses in.

What do they call those things, mausoleums? :cap:

There are plenty of bars around the Stadium. When did you go 1930s?
