Someone recently mentioned in another thread that all the seats had been removed from Tiger Stadium. Does anyone know if the city held a public sale of these seats? What happened to them? We all know there is a market for those.

I think every item in the Detroit auction sold, including urinals, arrows and pencil stands. The full seats went for a little less than what they went in St. Louis, my brother got a single seat from his in-laws for an early holiday gift.
A few of the stores in the Detroit area were selling set backs in their Black Friday sales. Pretty cheap, about $30, I believe. I got one, and steered a couple people that way, as well, who lost out at the on-line auction.Dave Bill Tom George Mark Bob Ernie Soupy Dick Alex Sparky

i bought a set of seats from the online sale. coming out of the box they definately looked like they came out of an abandoned stadium.
this is what they looked like after a good scrubbing. and after the auction they had a sale of unsold stuff at the stadium, a bunch of stuff in piles in the bleacher concourse, some with fixed prices and others you could make offers for. my friend got a locker room bag, i got an orange seat back, glazed concourse brick and a closing game edition of the detroit news for $25.
the seats that were not sold in the sale are/will be junked according to the guy at the stadium. so far they have only removed the lower deck seats.

Your seats cleaned up well. Mine were also very dirty (8years of none use) but look much better now.
Question- How are you planning to mount them, consideration of painting, and doing anything with the bracket from the missing seat (#3 in your set). Coincidently, I have seats #4 and #5. I do wish they could have told what sectio and row.
So far, I have cleaned the seats and mounted to a 2'x4' sheet of plywood and a 2"x8" "riser" that I painted a dark grey.
Any suggestions to the questions would be helpful.
