  • Yank Stad-USA Today, NY Daily News mags

Yesterday, after I got home from the Historic Rainout, I stumbled upon a copy of USA Today's Yankee Stadium keepsake edition. It's $4.95 and worth it. It wasn't on the newsstand when I went in the morning, and wasn't there again this morning, so I'm not sure about it's availability. It's more along the lines of what I want to do with my book. Chronological, with some plans, construction photos, a nice shot of the 1937 RF extension, some previously unseen renovation shots, and a good bit of info, much of it familiar but some new to me, crammed into 88 pages. Some new "What happened to the original facade/frieze?" info, which I put into the frieze thread on this board.
In today's NY Daily News, they're plugging an upcoming six-part Stadium magazine which will be included in the Sunday News starting this week. I'll be buying a few extra copies for some of you out-of-towners.
What will us Yank fans do in 2010 when all the excitement dies down? Maybe just start watching the games again?

Being USA TODAY, it should be available nationally for awhile since it says in the corner "On Sale Spring 2008."

Methinks that it will easier to find outside of NYC but I was able to find 2 copies at my local work newstand, and the guy said that he will be getting more editions for awhile.

I saw it yesterday on a newsstand on Broadway near City Hall in Manhattan. I didn't buy it because it was shrink wrapped, and I like to look through these things before I buy them, but if you're saying it's worth it I'll pick up a copy.

Vendors were selling the USA Today magazine outside Yankee Stadium last night before the game...

...and based on The Monument's recommendation, I bought one.

I agree that it's a worthwhile purchase. Good job, Monument!

The vendors weren't there last night. However, the guys in the street who sell photos in front of the bowling alley (they've got all those photos taped to the side of the building) had shrinkwrapped copies for $4.00, a dollar less than cover. That's an even better deal.

Thanks for asking. It's coming along, and I'll have an update soon on my Pictorial History thread.

                        USA Today

I got the USA Today paper. It's pretty good. Definitely worth $4.95. Thanks again Monument.

Looks really cool. I just ordered a magazine for myself. Thanks a bunch.
Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, and rum. He will come.

The 1st issue of the Daily News magazine came with today's paper, and it has more pictures of Babe Ruth in it than the stadium. It's got a lot of articles, though. And there's something in The Post too, but it's not a magazine.
