While watching the documentary on Roberto Clemente last night, there were a bunch if shots of Forbes Field during the 1960 World Series. Along the third base line, there is a change in the grass and it looks like a cover of some kind. Did Forbes Field have a tarp machine similar to what was put into Busch Stadium several years (and, much later, ate Vince Coleman?)

Yep, Forbes had an automatic tarp. Not sure when it was put in, but it was there to the end. 3 rivers also had an automatic tarp. I wonder (the Vince Coleman incident notwithstanding) why teams don't have those automatic tarps anymore. They can cover the field well during those quick summer storms where the rain comes down so fast by the time the grounds crew rolls out the tarp, the field is already saturated.LETS GO BUCS!!
