  • Babe Ruth in Brea, CA--Then/Now

(I posted this in the Roadside Baseball thread as well)

So out in Brea, CA- in 1924, Babe Ruth played a famous barnstorming game against a team led by Walter Johnson. A guy whose son was at the game and shot photos lent them to me for my Roadside Baseball book--they are amazing and I will post more but here's a comparison--Babe Ruth crossing home at the Brea Bowl after hitting the first of two bombs off Johnson--

And then here is the site today--home would have been about in the middle of the street, mid-photo...

    Nice photos.

It made me go back and search for this, an image which I found online a few years ago, taken at the Dunsmuir California ballpark in 1924 (likely on that same barnstorming tour) I look forward to your book.

Mario-I actually visited that site--here's a short video--watch for the end!

I've started creating some :60 vignettes from a book I wrote called Roadside Baseball. Basically, they're visits to historical baseball places around the US...
